Endorsements
The DCC conducts an endorsement process prior to each election to determine which Democratic candidates in local non-partisan racesmerit endorsement. For federal and state partisan races, those candidates endorsed by the California Democratic Party are also the endorsees of the SCC Democratic Party. In addition, the DCC subscribes to a Clean Campaign Policy , as outlined below:
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CENTRAL COMMITTEE COMMITMENT TO CLEAN CAMPAIGNS
The Santa Cruz County Democratic Central Committee is committed to the concept of clean campaigning. Therefore, the Committee expects all its endorsed candidates to honor the following requisites to ensure a clean campaign:
Candidates shall:
- Focus their campaign on the accurate representation of the issues in all statements, debates, advertisements and press releases, and will not distribute anything that misrepresents, distorts, or otherwise falsifies the facts;
- Demonstrate respect for their opponents, their family members, including matters relating to their race, national origin, religion or sexual orientation, by avoiding personal attacks and not issuing any statement or communication regarding any of these subjects;
- Accept responsibility for all campaign messages and reject any attacks generated or distributed by any outside groups; and
- Appreciate and show consideration for their opponent’s campaign offices and right to distribute signs and literature and will help protect them by instructing campaign workers, supporters and surrogates to do the same.
