2019 Primary Debates

Democrats will hold 12 primary debates, including six in 2019. While President Trump already has three declared Republican opponents (Joe Walsh, Bill Weld and Mark Sanford), there are no primary debates scheduled.

NEXT UP: The Fifth Democratic primary debate will be
November 20th.

The fifth Democratic presidential debate of the 2020 campaign will be held in the Atlanta area on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the Democratic National Committee announced on Tuesday. MSNBC and The Washington Post will host it.


Ten candidates have qualified for the debate so far:

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey


Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii


Senator Kamala Harris of California

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont


The hedge-fund investor Tom Steyer


Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts


The entrepreneur Andrew Yang


Other candidates have until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 13 to qualify.
