FORUM ON LOCAL BALLOT MEASURES will be held on Wednesday, March 9, at 7 pm via ZOOM

The Democratic Central Committee of Santa Cruz County (DCC) has many opportunities within the next few weeks to learn about Ballot Measures and Candidates that will be on the June 7, 2022, Primary Election.

The Ballot Measure Forum on Wed., March 9, and the Candidate Endorsement Forum on Wed., March 23, are specifically for our elected voting members to attend and achieve quorum for our endorsement process.

The Candidate Town Halls were organized for folks to ask questions and have a little more time with individual candidates. The Forums are for DCC endorsements and the Town Halls are more informative; all are open to the public to attend. Town Hall dates and information are located on the DCC Events Calendar on our home page.

On March 9th, presentations will be made on the following issues put forth by local jurisdictions:

- Increase in Transient Occupancy Tax, from the current 11% to 12% for hotels and 14% for vacation rentals.

- Allow the County to collect a portion of the single-use cup fee

- Charter Amendment creating six districts for election of council members and an at-large directly elected Mayor.

- Possible increase in city sales tax by half a percent, from 9.25% to 9.75%, pending action by City Council on March 8.

A presentation against the county-wide Greenway initiative was previously presented at the Feb. 23 DCC meeting. Proponents of that measure were invited but declined to participate. The initiative has gathered enough signatures to qualify for the ballot, and will be formally added to the June ballot at a future Board of supervisors meeting.

The following is the zoom link invitation to the March 9 DCC Endorsement forum on local ballot measures:
